Find the perfect dive for your level and explore the Adriatic at its best.
Budva is one of the top locations for scuba diving in Montenegro, offering a diverse mix of wrecks, reefs and caverns suitable for all experience levels.
From beginner-friendly tunnels to impressive shipwrecks, the Budva coastline provides a unique underwater landscape with excellent visibility, calm conditions and easy boat access.
Here are some of the best dive sites you can explore in the Budva area:
β Minesweeper Wreck (Sveti Stefan)
Located near the peninsula of Sveti Stefan, this sunken minesweeper is one of the most popular wreck dives in Budva.
Resting on a sandy seabed at a depth of up to 24 meters, the wreck is approximately 30 meters long and remains largely intact, offering a great opportunity to explore a real underwater structure.
With very good visibility, calm conditions and minimal current, this dive is accessible to most certified divers and ideal as an introduction to wreck diving.
π Reef Tunnels
Reef Tunnels is a perfect starting point for diving in Montenegro, especially for beginner divers.
The site features two horizontal tunnels integrated into the reef, along with a small cavern. Both tunnels have a single entrance and exit, making them easy and safe to explore.
With a maximum depth of 12 meters and almost no current, this is a relaxed and confidence-building dive.
π Twin Caves
Twin Caves is one of the most unique dive sites in the Budva area.
The dive includes two similar caverns, both containing freshwater springs, creating a visible layer of crystal-clear water with a slightly lower temperature.
Inside the larger cavern, divers can surface into a natural air pocket β a spacious chamber with breathable air and remarkable acoustics.
π A rare and memorable experience combining both sea and fresh water in a single dive.
π Blue Cavern
The Blue Cave is known for its vibrant colours and unique light effects, making it one of the most photogenic dive sites in Montenegro.
The cavern walls are covered with sponges, sea fans and nudibranchs, while the deep blue Adriatic water creates a striking visual contrast.
Although the maximum depth reaches 35 meters, the dive can easily be adapted to shallower levels, making it suitable for both beginners and more experienced divers.
πΊ Reef Pyramid
Reef Pyramid stands out for its dynamic underwater structure and interesting topography.
The site includes two vertical tunnels within the reef, as well as a historic World War I underwater mine located on the sandy seabed.
The reef rises close to the surface, making navigation easy and safe. While the tunnels are accessible to most divers, the mine itself is typically explored by more experienced (AOWD) divers due to depth.
β Patrol Boat Wreck (Ε½anjic Bay)
This former Yugoslav Navy patrol boat, built in 1952, now rests on a sandy seabed in Ε½anjic Bay.
Measuring around 40 meters in length, the wreck is relatively well preserved and offers an authentic wreck diving experience.
As the site is unmarked, descent and ascent are done via a reference line. Wreck penetration is possible for certified divers, adding an extra level of exploration.
π A great option for divers looking for a slightly more advanced and structured dive.
